Technology Upgrade

It is a big day, friends. A BIG day. Check it. I can do that crazy font change business because not only is the first post that I'm writing from a computer and not my phone, but I am writing it from MY VERY OWN, VERY FIRST MACBOOK!!!!

That's right. It has my name on it. I bought it. I'm the only one with a password to open it. It's mine. It certainly doesn't feel like mine yet. It's like I'm on a Caribbean Computer vacation. I'm having a great time now, but soon I'll have to give this back and go back to reading websites and emails from my tiny phone screen. And while I do love my phone and I'm so proud of all the work it's been doing, I'M ON MY VERY OWN, VERY FIRST MACBOOK.

The way it happened is this: my last computer got tired of living I guess. Which is fair, it lived a good life. I got it right out of high school 6 years ago and aside from a couple factory resets, viruses, the DVD drive not working, the dead battery, the replaced power cord and the missing Caps Lock key, it's been good to me for all 6 years. But all things must die and I guess little ol Dell decided the best time to do that was when I'm more poor than I've ever been in my life. I've never been in a position when I've been able to drop money for a computer. Or really, drop money for anything more expensive than a pair of jeans at Old Navy, but particularly not now, when spending more than $35 is a splurge.

So in the 5 or 6 seconds each day I have to think about something that is not one of the 25 other things I've got going on, I've pondered over which new computer I want to be a part of my life, and who I'm going to rob to get it. But then! Today I was g-chatting with one of my dearest, who I know will have finally read the blog when she mentions this post, and she brought up the idea of FINANCING! Now, financing, to me, has always been something that adults talk about when they want to buy a car or something adult-y. Honestly, until today, I didn't even really know what financing meant. As it turns out, it's just a credit card. I understand credit cards. (Unfortunately) All of a sudden, the chances of me updating my blog from a screen bigger than 4" became a reality! I decided today, around 11:30am, that before I went to sleep tonight, I was going to be the owner of a new Mac Computer. And one of the things I love about myself is, when I fully commit to something, I follow through and make it a reality.

Yes, I am going to have to spend some time paying this purchase off, but as far as I'm concerned, worth it. It's the world I live in. Sometimes to get something, I gotta get into a little debt in order to reach my goal. And now I have a beautiful, working computer I can start to make changes to make money to pay off my "getting started on my dreams" debt. And! I can go to the Apple store whenever I need for the next year and they can teach me how to use any program I don't understand. More than likely, I will go to the Apple Store and hang out with all the attractive tech nerds that work there. I'm a sucker for skinny nerds, especially ones that can type well. And if they're tall? It's love. Maybe this purchase will lead me to my new husband. And that would certainly make it worth it, wouldn't it, Mom...?

AH!! I JUST DECIDED WHAT I'M GOING TO DO TOMORROW. Sit at Starbucks with a latte and bust out the computer. I probably won't even write anything. I just want to be another girl in her mid 20s on her Mac at Starbucks. Ooo! I should name it. Maybe Micah cause that's who helped me purchase it. But maybe it's a lady computer...? Michelle? No. Mika. Perfect. It's somewhat androgynous and a little foreign. Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce you to....Mika.
